what is needed when a person has a personal injury claim & is seeking future loss of earnings in the uk?

i damaged my knee a few years ago and am not able to work as a tiler like i had trained for,i have a lower paid job now.my knee is still giving me problems.my solicitor says every thing is going fine,but sometimes i wonder,do they just tell us what they think we want to hear.

Having worked in a solicitors I can tell you that claims can take up to five years as a medium average.
Your best bet though it to just have a chat and say "look, I know this is your job, but I’m new at this, could you explain what stage of the negotiations we’re in and roughly what I can expect to happen in the next few months".
No they will be doing there best but just before it all comes to a end you will have to undergo a physical examination which your solicitor will arrange with a doctor arranged by them not one that you know of,
then this will determine how bad you are and whats what. the hold up could be because of other party’s you need to ask the solicitor this if other party’s are involved,
from a similar experience mine took a good 18 months from when i made the claim to it was finalised..
