Insurers are footing a £2 billion bill for whiplash claims, with 1200 made in the UK everyday. So, one pioneering physiotherapist has found a way to use the technology he’s developed to treat sports stars in a bid to tackle Britain’s compensation culture. The device can detect pain and could be the answer to cutting fraudulent whiplash and personal injury claims. See how it works.

Third party fire and theft car insurance?

Does third party fire and theft car insurance cover me for personal injury?
Also if I was to be at fault in an accident?
Thanks for your answers everyone

I had just purchased a new car and was driving home to sort the insurance out, on the way another car rear ended me at a roundabout. My car was quite badly damaged and his was not. Although he admitted blame straight away, he asked for my insurance details, so I had to explain my situation. We agreed to say that the accident occured after I had purchased the car insurance. Is he liable to pay for the damages and any personal injury claims I obtained even if I had no insurance?
sorry, just wanted to add that the car wasnt a new one from a dealership it was a private sale. The insurance was purchased around one hour after the accident, should this affect things?

Do you have to declare a no fault accident?

even if you were not driving?

In December 2008 my husband
was driving and a car hit us from behind. As the car is in my name I
put the claim in and I received cash for my written off car from the
other party who was at fault. We both received personal injuries from
the other party as well.

When applying for car insurance now, and it asks for me and my
husbands ‘any claims in the last 5 years’ – do I put this down as
both of us having had an accident in the last 5 years? It was the
same incident and I wasn’t driving. I have been putting it down as
an incident for each of us, yet another insurance company states that
because I wasn’t driving then it should not go against MY name as an
accident/claim but just my husband’s, as this in effect could affect
the quote. I don’t want to hide anything but at the same time don’t want to say I had an accident that I didn’t have.

Reliable source answers please thank you

hi

i have had quotes for car insurance for my X reg 2.5 petrol freelander

1st Central were the cheapest and even with legal expenses and personal injury (car hire not needed) it was nearly £200 cheaper than the insurers that I was thinking of using which are Hastings Direct.

I am currently with Elephant.co.uk and after years of loyality, they are not offering me a quote as good as Hastings or 1st Central.

Which in your opinion and experience offers the best insurance? obviously i am very keen on the 1st Central quote but if this means that they lack good service or have poor terms compared to Hastings Direct, then i would prefer to pay more

thanks

UK car insurance -?

Are you able to claim on your own car insurance if your fully comp for personal injury if the accident was your fault???

trying to settle an arguement here!

Hi a week ago i was involved in a serious car accident which involved 3 cars,a van driver hit a mans car which then hit mine,we were both stationary waiting in traffic when the van hit us at 60mph from behind,he has admitted it was completely his fault and said the sun was shining in his eyes and he couldnt see the cars.
two cars including mine were write offs.
I went to hospital 3 hours after the accident as my back, neck and head were really hurting,i had hit my head on the steering wheel, the stereo also popped out and hit me on
the side of the head and i was thrown forward then back.
at the hospital they said i had severe whiplash and gave me painkillers, the painkillers are not working,im suffering so bad with migraines,i cannot walk without wearing a neck brace and my back pain is unbearable, i am also a nervous wreck and cant bear loud noises or sudden movements im not sure i can drive again for a very long time.
My 5 year old daughter was unharmed just a bruised shoulder, but has been very effected by the accident she wakes up crying and wont get into my mothers car,and shes very nervous of loud noises and bangs, not sure if she is too young to claim?
I have also lost my car which was my pride & joy but just lucky to be here and my 5 year old daughter was unharmed.
ive been advised to claim a personal injury claim through my car insurance solicitors and that i may be entitled to some compensation pay out? any advice would be great P.S its on a no win no fee basis?

Thankyou in advance…please only comment if you are sure of your advice and your not just guessing thankyou
Thankyou for all your comments i have found them very helpful, and im greatful for your time reading my problem! i did contact my insurer as soon as i got home from the accident, went to hospital 3 hours after accident and have a doctors appointment for tomorrow afternoon. i have been appointed to a firm of solicitors by my insurance company and they have sent me forms to fill in and send back,i just wanted to know if its worth doing, but by the sound of it i am going to be able to receive some compensation so i,ll send the forms back tomorrow..thankyou again for your help Chelle
Im in so much shock and upset and the moment, loosing my car was the most upsetting thing about it all,no amount of money could make that feeling go away,as my car was a gift bought for me before my nan passed away from bowel cancer 3 years ago! feel like i let her down now the cars been wrote off! but i know if she was here she would be angry that i felt that way…she would just be happy and glad that i am ok…
silly feelings i know, but they are feelings that i cannot help :-(

im going on a 19 day cruise and i want insurance to cover personal injury and very little else. im not concerned about the value of the cruise as i didnt have to pay for it. im not concerned even, about my luggage. its easily replacable.
so comparing it to car insurance i would want something like third party fire and theft. if you see what i mean. thanks

Who pays personal injury compensation?

I recently had a road traffic accident, which I freely admit was my fault. It was a damage only incident, and we exchanged details amicably, shook hands, and it was understood he would claim for the damage to his car from my insurance (Not a problem as I am fully comprehensive with protected no claims)
There were no injuries suffered to either party, but if he decides to claim later for any subsequent complaint (eg, whiplash, etc) will my car insurance (with legal protection cover) take care of it, or will I have to pay him myself. I do not earn much and after paying my bills, I am not sure my finances could support such a claim.
It has since transpired that he had let his MOT lapse by over 5 months. Not sure if this would effect anything.

how do i make a personal claim for an injury?

had a car crash not seriously damaged my arm but hurt it, took 3 days off work did not get paid, how do i make a claim on my car insurance against the person who ran into me
