I own a small club and last October a lady was running across the pub and fell over after she had been told a couple of times by our doorman not to run, she has now put a claim in saying that she fell on a wet floor, at the time of the accident she never once mentioned falling on a spillage to any of our staff or doorman, she never complained to anyone and admitted that it had been her fault as she was running she has told her solicitors that she was walking across the dance floor and slipped on spillage, however as can be seen on our cctv footage she is def running and although she does fall there is no spillage on the floor as the area was checked about a minute before she fell by a member of staff which is on cctv, she didnt even check the area after she fell to see what she fell on as it is all on cctv, when she was carried out of our pub by the doorman 2 policemen turned up and she said in front of them that her boots she was wearing had let her down the heel had broken in some way and she was mad as they cost 250 pounds, she also admitted that she had been running to them yet told her solicitor she had been walking, she broke her ankle through the fall and had 3 months off work, our solicitor has sent her solicitors the cctv and our witness statements off doorman and they have said they will look at the pre action evidence next week as they are going on holiday but to tell us they will be taking it to court, at the time of the accident we were not insured but since have got insurance, because of this our solicitor has told us if it goes to court and we lose it could cost us up to 100,000 and it will be down to the judge to make a decision, we received a pre action letter with a court date last week and this was the first we had heard about it as apparently they had sent 5 letters to us which we never received, as our solicitor picked up on the face that the address was wrong on the letter so thats why we never received the other letters, also they have said that the accident happened 2 days later than it actually did, it happened on a saturday and the date they have put down is a Monday and we are not even open on that day, i just want to know if we fight this will we win as we dont want to give in and pay costs when we have done nothing wrong or is there a chance we could end up with massive costs and have to sell our home, thanks in advance
we dont have a police report yet as it happened 9 months ago and this is the first we have heard since then so i am going to have to try and find out which police attended and if they remember what she said, also why would the solicitor still want to take it on when we have all the evidence

A friend of mine was hit by a car in January of this year. His leg was broken quite severely and required a few operations, pins and a metal cage to repair it (forgive my lack of medical knowledge) His total recovery time was approx 3 – 6 months. He is now fully mobile but is restricted from certain activities due to the weakness in his leg.
What I want to know is how much personal injury compensation he is likely to get??? He is banding around figures of £250,000 but I am skeptical for a number of reasons.
1) The Judicial Board Studies Guidelines quotes £22,650 for a serious broken leg.
2) He has never been employed since leaving school 6 years ago so cannot claim loss of earnings.
3) He is a well known bull shitter.
4) He was messing around on a car park with a load of idiot boy racers at the time of the accident.
5) A friend who had a similar serious break AT WORK on his arm received only around £30,000.
So I guess I want everyones opinion, do you think he could get £250,000??? He has never been employed, is fully healed except for some possible future weakness in the leg. His Barrister is trying to claim it was his intention to join the Armed Forces and claim loss of potential earnings that way……even though this is complete crap because has done nothing with his life except sit on his backside at home smoking and claiming benefits in the 6 years since leaving school. He never enlisted in the forces or attended a single interview. His interest stopped at getting some brochures from the Army Careers office a few years back.
As we all joke his greatest achievment in life has been to get run over……..What do you all think??
