How can a teacher put a student?

A science teacher here in the UK smashed a weight into a 14 y/o head. He’s still in hospital with severe head injuries. Apparently, the 14 y/o was taunting the teacher. Teacher was arrested, in court to day. Didnt attempt to get bail or anything. I’ve been following this story, ‘apparently he’d (teacher) just returned to woim viewrk.I myself have a very dim view of science teachers, after a personal sexual assault. The teacher just said, you should be so lucky after I told him what had happened. I seriously think teachers should just take a step back!
(admittedly most teachers are worth their weight in gold!)
I agree totally. Parents dont teach their children respect and manners! TBH I worked with 1st year infant school kids. They were really hard work for me! It wouldn’t have even crossed my mind to attack a teacher. I had ‘the fear’, if i got into trouble I’d feel it when I got home! Kids these days, no respect.
I think parents should instill the new generations with ‘the fear’. Not nastily, just teach kids not to diss their elders! I’m 28 BTW, and I say – Onto a life of crime they may travel! Intervention! Nip it at the bud!

Can employers deny doctors excuse and fire you?

I had a car accident on the way home from work just 2 weeks ago. My doctor took me out of work immediately due to neck and back injuries and a shifted pelvis. I am currently being treated by my pcp, an orthopedic, and physical therapy 3 days a week. I am currently covered under short term disability. They call me everyday asking for updates and I have been compliant and doing my part. They tell me that the doctor’s diagnoses are not enough and they are going to soon require me to return to work. I sit 10+ hours a day and do data entry, sitting and standing in place are extremely difficult right now and doctors say I need a full 4 to 6 weeks recovery before going back to work. What rights do I have? I don’t care if they deny any further coverage through short term disability. But they say if they take that step then they will use the few days personal time I have left and then begin with the write ups. After 3 days of write ups I will be fired. Can an employer, or disability management company, legally override a doctors orders (or 3 doctors for that matter) and do this? I am in PA if that matters. Please help!

When advancing an ICBC or other Injury Claim in the BC Supreme Court one of the most important pre-trial steps is the examination for discovery. This is when the opposing side has the right to bring you before a Court Reporter and get your sworn evidence about relevant matters such as how the accident happened, what your injuries are and the extent of your ‘damages’. I have prepared this video to take some of the mystery out of the process and provide some general information to Plaintiffs who may have questions about examinations for discovery. Please note that this video is provided for general information only and is not claim-specific legal advice. I can only provide legal advice to clients. please give ur opinion on the start of my story?

I dont really know much about writing so need constructive critism

On the 25th of June 1914 a 19 year old Serbian nationalist named Gavrillo Princip walked out of a cafe with a Browning revolver and killed the Austrian Archduke, Franz Ferdinand, his wife the Countess Sophie and their unborn child as they reversed around a corner in an open top vehicle. At this time no one could have predicted the millions of lives this incident would ultimately end and the many millions more whose lives would be affected. One girl who lived twelve hundred miles from Sarajevo and who knew very little about the national issues and foreign disputes surrounding the Balkan states certainly could never have imagined how this event could affect her life; much less change the entire course of her future. However for all her years Kathy never forgot where she was when she heard the unfortunate news about the Archduke’s assassination even although at the time she regarded it with little interest. Two years after this fateful day in the far off Serbian capital Kathy was awakened by a loud bang which rattled the frame of her metal bunk and shook the water in the glass at her bedside. For a disorienting moment Kathy forgot where she was and hastily looked around for the source of the din. Then the veil of sleep lifted and she hoisted the sheets over her ears and clung to her blanket. The blanket had comforted her through a childhood of dark, cold and terror filled nights. Now, kept well hidden during the day, Kathy often clutched the blanket throughout the unending clamour that haunted her nights and which was worse than all the night time terrors of childhood.
It was a source of constant wonder to Kathy how her life could have changed so drastically in the wake of one decision. 6 months earlier 3 days before her 16th birthday she had received a letter from her brother in France separate from the letters he usually sent addressed to the entire family. The letter didn’t say much, just birthday wishes and such. Kathy supposed that he couldn’t really say much else but she was touched that he had sent her a personal letter and that he had sent it early as to arrive in time for her birthday. Then it came upon her out of nowhere. She could no longer sit at home and be a child. It was at that moment she decided to go to France and help in any way she could. She joined a training programme and became a nurse. The process was very rushed. Kathy imagined that two years earlier a 3 month training programme would not have been sufficient to qualify her as a trained nurse but there was, after all, a war on.
It was here in a small hastily built field hospital that Kathy first met Patrick. Patrick was the kind of boy who made friends easily and who people naturally trusted as a leader. In his short time in the army he had gathered many followers. He was always closely followed by his best friend, Harry. The two had been inseparable since childhood. It was strange to Kathy how similar the environment she found herself was to the schoolyard. The soldiers went around in gangs singing childish songs calling each other (or more accurately the senior officers) names. However she guessed this shouldn’t seem so strange since most of the soldiers had come to the war straight from the school gates. As much as she tried to don the airs of a much older woman Kathy was only a young girl herself and was very ashamed to find herself giggle and smile at Patrick’s jokes and easy smile. He had come to the hospital (which was for all intensive purposes a tent with 2 rows of beds at each side with a row of wooden boxes in the middle) with a small injury to the arm.
“My gosh mister soldier you’ve certainly been in the wars!” Kathy sarcastically exclaimed when she examined what was little more than a flesh wound. “How exactly did you come to get such a lacerating blow to the arm?”
“The heed man told us to come here with any wound, Sister! Says that it could get infected and then I would be in trouble wouldn’t I? I’d have to get it chopped off most likely!”
“Of course he’s right I shouldn’t make a joke of it. It’s just when boys are carried in every day with gunshot wounds and missing limbs it seems quite funny that you should turn up here with a scrape to the arm!” Kathy fetched a basin of water, the bottle of iodine and some hot bandages and began to clean the small wound. Patrick watched in silence for a moment. “Oh and I’m not a Sister.” Said Kathy suddenly “I certainly can’t let the Sisters hear you call me that, they wouldn’t like it”
“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t really think you were a nun but I thought if you were you might get angry if I didn’t address you properly. I always try to be polite you see.” Patrick flashed a smile at Kathy who quite involuntarily returned it. “What exactly should I call you then?”
“You should call me nurse MacKnight but…” Kathy looked around hastily then whispered “since you’re a fellow Scot I’ll let you call me Kathy.”

I had a minor RTA with a neighbour. It was my fault but I’m not admitting that. I was overtaking him on a narrow country road and didn’t get past him without making contact. Anyway I want my car fixed and compo for whiplash. It turns out his insurance had lapsed. Do I go through my own insurance? Do I go through the MIB? or can I take a Civil Bill against him and take him to court which would possibly be more fun??? Thanks for help!

Its my friends 21st birthday coming up and he’s a HUGE fan of Alan Shearer. He’s his idol. He’s always injuring himself whilst playing football- breaking his nose, reputuring his spleen into two so it had to be removed and he nearly died and loads of other injuries. And I wanted to get him something special for his 21st that I know he’d love. I’d like to send a letter to Alan Shearer and something for him to sign. It would be something personal for my friend and unique that he could treasure forever. But I have no idea how to go about this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Arsenal fans aren’t you getting pissed off watching these transfers ? Liverpool get Robbie Keane, United close in on Berbatov and hes ready to sign, Sp*rs get Dos Santos, Bentley, Modric, Arshavin, Chelsea get Deco, while Hleb & Flamini leave we get Nasri and thats our ‘big’ signing of the summer, thats only one position replaced, and theres injuries, Fabregas (hamstring), Kolo Toure (hip), Abou Diaby (thigh), Philippe Senderos (hamstring) and Samir Nasri (knee/thigh) on the sidelines along with Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo, who both are out till September & November.

I always wanted Berbatov to come to Arsenal, Wenger said he admires him a lot It doesn’t look like happening as hes ready to agree personal deals.

Do you think Wenger will sign a big name like Berbatov, Torres, Benzema, etc in the next 2 or 3 years ?
Whats with all these thumbs down ?

About 3 weeks ago my best friend was in a really bad car accident. She had to stay in hospital for ages as her injuries were bad. She broke both her legs, one arm, had ligament damage to the other arm and hurt her neck.

Anyway yesterday was the first time she was back at school (she wanted to do 1 day before doing a full week starting monday) but she still looks really badly hurt.

Her legs are both fully casted (she broke her legs really badly, one in 4 places, one in 6) and she’s not allowed to be weight bearing so she has to use a wheelchair. One of her arms is in a full length cast and she has to wear a sling. The other arm is in a splint because there is some ligament damage to it (but she has more mobility with that arm) and she has to wear a neck brace for a few more weeks.

I visited her loads in the hospital and when she was at school I helped her get around (pushing her wheelchair, opening doors for her etc.) I know its important for her to have some Independence so I help her with the stuff she really needs help with. She’s going to be in casts for a while, her legs were especially badly broken so she wont be able to walk on them for 12 weeks if not longer.

People were acting so differently around her at school. Some called her name like cripple, others just avoided her eye completley and others started talking to her in this really patronsing tone. She’s upset by this as she just wants things to go back to normal, I treat her like i did before the accident except I help her out a lot more with mobility like I said before

I wasn’t sure if her being back at school so soon was a good idea but I respect her personal wishes and at the end of the day only she knows how she’s feeling. She’s just about coping with the tempary loss of mobility and being in a chair. She’s very dependent on other people at the moment but I think she’s just accepted its part of the healing process. But what she cant cope with is everyone at school like that which i mentioned above, she’s no different to that which she was before execept for the next few months she’s going to need a but more TLC

Why can’t others just treat her normally?
